Repairing Runs in Hosiery
A run doesn't have to end your day. Here's how to stop and repair them.
Emergency Fixes
Clear Nail Polish
- Apply at both ends of run
- Dab (don't paint) the polish
- Let dry completely
- Creates barrier stopping spread
Hairspray
- Spray directly on run
- Stiffens fibers temporarily

Bar Soap
- Rub across run edges

At-Home Repairs
For Small Runs
- Use fabric glue or clear polish
- Apply small amount at run ends
- Press fibers together gently
- Lay flat to dry
For Snags (Not Runs)
- Don't pull the thread
- Use a needle to push snag inside
- Work from inside out
- Apply clear polish to secure
